Atlanta and Turner Field

Baseball season has started!

To celebrate, Lisa and I drove to Atlanta to see the second game of the season. Wouldn't you know it, the Chicago Cubs were in town! What luck!

Lisa and I have made it our goal to see all Major League parks at some point in our life. We were able to cross another one off with Turner Field. We drove down early in the day and had the chance to take a tour of the stadium and visit the Braves Hall of Fame.

Outside of the park, they have a monement to players whose numbers the Braves have retired. The 44 is Hank Aaron who was with the team when they were in Milwaukee and then moved with them to Atlanta. They have also kept the wall from their old stadium that Hank Aaron hit home run 715 over. It is right in the middle of their parking lot and very cool that they kept it to honor that moment!

It is a newer stadium and very fan friendly. Lisa wants to go back when the Braves aren't playing the Cubs so she can join in the excitement of the home team. (She was caught doing the "tomahawk chop" with the Braves fans. Also, she likes doing the wave which is not allowed for Cubs fans.)

The Cubs lost on a late inning home run by Chipper Jones. Even with the loss, we still had a great time and hope to make it to many more Braves games.

After the game, we sat in traffic in the parking lot for an hour and then had to make the 3 1/2 hour drive back to Knoxville so we could work the next day.
