Anniversary Trip - Day 2

On Day 2 we left Philadelphia early in the morning and took the train to New York City. The train went through New Jersey to get to New York so Lisa and I both have a new state! We had made arrangements to stay at a nice hotel. On the reservation I mentioned that it was our 10 year anniversary. When we checked in they upgraded us to a nice suite!
This is the view from our window. We noticed the Chrysler Building on the first day. The next day we opened the blinds on the other side of the suite and saw the Empire State Building! It was a very nice room!
We headed the wrong direction when we left the hotel but eventually found our way to Times Square. I had never been to New York City (Lisa went after high school graduation) and the lights in Times Square were amazing. It was quite mesmerizing to see all of the lights and advertisements, even during the day!
We spent a lot of time walking around Times Square and ate at a great Cuban restaurant a few blocks away. The plan for the evening was to see Wicked on Broadway.
We had some extra time before Wicked so we stopped into the movie theater and saw Date Night. It is an excellent movie. Very funny. We both recommend it.
After the movie we had dinner and then went to the Gershwin Theater to see Wicked. It is a great show. One of my favorites. I would gladly see it again and highly recommend Wicked to anyone.

After the show it began to rain. Normally this would not have been a big deal except Lisa disregarded my advice and did not wear tennis shoes to walk around the city. By the time the show was over, blisters the size of quarters had formed on both of her heels. We decided (had no choice but) to take a cab back to the hotel but the rain made finding one difficult. Eventually we found one and enjoyed a mad dash that can only be described as video game like back to the hotel. It was a great first day in New York!

You know you travel too much when you are in New York and go to a movie. I'm only saying that because I am jealous though. :)
