Toronto - Part 1

We are skipping a few things that Lisa wanted to blog but I wanted to post some pictures of our Memorial Day trip to Canada. The first day was spent traveling. We drove to Nashville, flew to Buffalo passing through Baltimore, and then drove from Buffalo to Toronto. We arrived in Toronto just as it was getting dark. We stayed at the Delta Chelsea Hotel which is Canada's largest hotel. It was a nice place. Here is our first photo of Canada.

On our second day we had tickets to see the Toronto Blue Jays. They played the Baltimore Orioles. We walked from our hotel and got a good look at the CN Tower. The CN Tower is right next to the Rogers Centre, where the Blue Jays play.

The Rogers Centre used to be called the Sky Dome. It was the first dome with a retractable roof. The roof was closed when we first arrived. The concourse level felt more like a basketball game than a baseball game. I was a little disappointed at first, but things got better when they opened the dome.

Baseball is much better outdoors. The ballpark has a great view!

They use artificial turf at the Rogers Centre so we watched as the vacuumed the outfield to prepare for the game. We had great seats. Front row just behind 3rd Base. The Blue Jays won easily and the game was fun to watch.

After the game we went to the CN Tower. The CN Tower is the 2nd tallest building in the world. The main observation decks are on the 113th and 114th floors. This is the top of the Rogers Centre. As you can imagine, you get great views of the city and of Lake Ontario.

Part of the 113th floor has a glass bottom! That is a long way down. The elevators have glass bottoms too so you can watch the ground as you're going up or down in the Tower. It is pretty cool.

There is a restaurant on the 115th floor. It's called 360 because the restaurant rotates. It takes about 70 minutes to do a full rotation. We went up just before sunset so we saw the city in the day and at night. It was fancy (as you can tell from the portion size on Lisa's plate) and very tasty.

After dinner we went to the second observation area which is called the Skypod. The Skypod is an additional 33 stories above the regular observation level. The bottom windows are slanted so you can look down and you really feel the height. They light the Tower at night so it looks like a dance club with flashing lights. It is an awesome building!
