Toronto - Part 2

We had all of Monday in Toronto. It was Memorial Day but since that is an American holiday, it was a great time to be in Canada. No crowds at all! We had good luck with the double-decker bus in Philadelphia so we decided to try that again in Toronto. The tour was a lot of fun. We traveled on the world's longest road (well, part of it) and saw a lot of other neat Toronto sights. Most of the historic buildings we saw were the 3rd or 4th versions of the buildings. It took them a long time to realize brick doesn't burn I guess.

We decided to spend some time at the harbor area. It is very pretty with a lot of restaurants and some shops. There is a large English influence in Toronto so we saw a lot of pubs. We decided to eat at a pub on the waterfront for lunch. The food was great and the service was excellent!

The bus tour included a harbor cruise too. The cruise took us along the city front and to the Toronto Islands. The islands are set up with biking and walking trails. You have to take a ferry or water taxi to get to them and there are no cars. There are 7 islands and one of them is a bird sanctuary where no people are allowed. It was a beautiful day and I took many, many pictures.

We spent most of the day just walking around Toronto. It was a very nice city. Lisa enjoyed their "walk" man and says he looks like he has a pep in his step.
