Coors Field

As mentioned earlier, we were able to see 2 Rockies games while the Cubs were in town. It was our first visit to Coors Field. Even though the stadium is fairly new, it is already one of the oldest in the National League. It is just outside of downtown and a pretty easy walk. The stadium is great.

One of the defining features of Coors Field is the forested area in the batter's eye. There are fountains there too that go off when the Rockies hit a home run.

Friday was Jackie Robinson Day. Everyone wore Number 42 to honor him.

We had seats on the Club level for the first game. It was a good thing too because it was very cold. We were able to walk up into this glassed off area every now and then to warm up but still be able to see the game.

How cold was it? Very. And as you'll see, it just kept getting colder as the night went on.

Unfortunately, the Rockies won the first night, but we still had fun.

On the second night, we had seats up a little higher. In fact, the purple row you see is at 5,280 feet above sea level (or 1 mile).

Our seats weren't quite here, but close.

Also on the second night, our friends from Knoxville came to the game with us. We found out they had planned a driving trip across the United States and were in Denver the same time we were. We arranged to meet up at the game.

The Cubs won game 2! We had a good time and really enjoyed Coors Field and Denver, we'll just go back in June when we visit next time. We were able to see some great baseball and some great views. This is our view from the 1st game.
