Utah - Matthew's Family

We just returned from Utah where we got to spend some time with both of our families.  Upon landing, we went to lunch at Wienerschnitzel.  It was worth the 4 year wait!

After seeing Brittany's house, our next stop was Mendon.

It was Mendon's Pioneer Day Celebration.  The day started off with Brittany and Lisa competing in the Mendon 5K.  Then we all had a pancake breakfast served by the firefighters and headed over to see the pig chase and rabbit chase.

Lydia was too young for the pig chase, but did participate in the rabbit chase.  Brittany was planning out her strategy:  "See Lydia, I'll pick you up by one arm and carry you over there.  After that I'll grab you by both arms and swing you over there.  At that point I'll try to claim some other child as my own.  Ready.  Break!"

After the animal chases we set up for the Mendon parade.  Lisa enjoyed her Black Cherry.

Brady, Xander, and Jillian waiting on the parade route.

The parade was certainly small town.  There was a lot of candy thrown and even some Otter Pops.

The parade ended with a water fight with the local firefighters.  The firefighters seemed to win.

We also spent some time hiding from the sun.  Later that evening, we enjoyed a firework show.  Mendon Days was a lot of fun.

My family was also a good sport and indulged Lisa in her newest hobby:  birding.  We saw 14 different birds while up in Cache County.

In what will certainly become Utah tradition, we went shooting again.

Lisa shot the eye out of her rabbit.

On this trip we met Brooke for the first time.  We also met Xander and were able to attend his blessing. The luncheon after the blessing was a good chance to see a lot of family.

Lisa took one last chance to see some birds on a morning walk before we headed down to Salt Lake City.
