One More Disney Day

On New Year's Eve, Disney announced they were planning to take advantage of Leap Day to have "One More Disney Day."  Part of this plan was to have Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at Disney World stay open for 24 hours straight.  Lisa and I decided this would be a good way to celebrate my birthday also.  Before we left though, Lisa ordered a fantastic red velvet cake.  It looked and tasted great.

 

The plan was to fly into Orlando in the evening on February 28th.  We had planned enough time to get to our hotel, get settled, and rest up to spend all 24 hours on the 29th in the park.  Allegiant Airlines had other plans as the plane had mechanical issues, as did the second plane they sent.  Our flight was supposed to leave at 5:05.  At 1:30 AM we finally left the airport after being told all flights would be cancelled and to come back later in the day.  Don't ever fly Allegiant.  Ever.

As frustrated as we were, we were still able to get in early enough to have a long stretch of the day in the Magic Kingdom.  We stayed the the Port Orleans French Quarter hotel.  It was very nice and the towel Mickey that welcomed us helped get us back in a Disney frame of mind.

After checking in and taking the bus to the Magic Kingdom, we had about 15 hours left in the "One More Disney Day."

 Disney gave out buttons to celebrate, and we found special ears for the occasion.

The "Wishes" firework celebration typically means the end of the day.  We still had 10 hours to go!

Here we are in line for Space Mountain with 7 hours to go.

 Midnight on Main Street.  6 hours to go.

 Just getting off Splash Mountain.  5 hours to go and Lisa is getting a little boost.

 Back on Main Street with 4 hours to go.  Mickey and Minnie were here in their pajamas, but the wait was 100 minutes to see them so we passed.

We're just out of It's A Small World when we hit 3 hours to go.

On the People Mover in Tomorrowland with 2 hours to go.

They turned the castle area into a dance party for the last few hours.  There were fun floats, a DJ, and dancing characters.  We were dancing fools with 1 hour to go!

6:00 AM!  We made it all night!

By the time we made it back to our hotel, the sun was beginning to rise over Disney World.  Hopefully Disney makes this a tradition because we would like to make it one!
