Atlanta Braves - "The Slide"

Yesterday Lisa and I went to Atlanta.  We realized we hadn't been to a Braves game yet this season.  Oh, and we had dinner with my Cammie, Dan, and Nathan too.  We made it to Turner Field hours before the game started.  We did this so we could get the promotion they were giving away and so we could see the alumni reunion softball game.  The Braves are honoring John Smoltz this weekend, and they retired his number during Friday's game.  The Saturday festivities were to honor the 20 Year Anniversary of "The Slide" during the 1992 NLCS.

Dale Murphy was the captain of the Alumni Team.  John Smoltz was the captain of the '92 Braves team.

Terry Pendleton and Dale Murphy.

1989 Rookie of the Year (with the Cubs) Jerome Walton.

Hall of Fame knuckleball pitcher Phil Niekro pitched for the Alumni Team.

There were many other players from the Braves' championship teams.  It was fun to see them play softball.

Here are the retired numbers for the Braves, including John Smoltz's 29.

They had a very cool presention honoring "The Slide."  The Braves beat the Blue Jays too in a very fun game on a great day for a ball game.  Here is the bobble head that was given away.  It's one of the coolest and easily the biggest.  All three pieces bobble.

Here's the video if you don't know what I'm talking about.  1992 NLCS Game 7.  Bottom of the 9th.  2 outs.  Down by 2.  See what happens.

You should do a post about all your bobble heads so we can see the collection.
